Community Clinic at Jones and Parson Hills elementary schools will be implementing the Healthy Hearts NWA – Lifestyle RX initiative. The initiative, made possible by support from Walmart Foundation and the American Heart Association, aims to increase access to healthy foods in our communities.
The American Heart Association (AHA) is one of the largest and most trusted voluntary health organizations in the world, with a mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. The AHA believes every person deserves the opportunity to live a full, healthy life, which includes having access to healthy foods.
Community Clinic’s mission is to deliver exceptional, accessible, and comprehensive care through patient-focused service to our communities. Community Clinic has served Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years with services that include primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health and dental care.
Over the next several months, healthcare providers at Community Clinic will conduct nutrition screenings and provide resources customized to each person/family’s needs. These may include:
- Nutritional counseling
- Nutrition prescription along with a voucher for fruit and vegetables
- Healthy recipe booklet
- Information on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits and enrollment through a patient advocate
- Referrals to additional counseling, as needed
Prioritizing healthy routines helps kids feel better today and helps set them up for long, healthy lives.
A healthy diet and lifestyle are your best weapons to fight heart disease, stroke and other chronic illnesses. Community Clinic is excited to be able to provide these resources to their communities through the Healthy Hearts NWA – Lifestyle RX program.
Community Clinic welcomes all patients and accepts most insurances, including Medicaid and Medicare. A discount program is available for those who qualify. Patient Advocates are available to assist with Medicaid enrollment for eligible individuals. (Please note a PCP referral would be required for Medicaid patients with a primary care provider other than Community Clinic.)
